Don’t Collect More Information than You Need
Want to build rapport online? One way to build a foundation of trust is to not collect more information than you absolutely need.
According to a recent Ipsos online study, 45% of U.S. adults feel that they have little (33%) or no (12%) control over the personal information companies gather while they are browsing the web or using online services such as photo sharing, travel, or gaming.
However, 39% of adults feel that that they do have at least a significant amount of control over the information that they intentionally share vs. information that companies gather from them while they are browsing online.
Help website users trust you by:
- Clearly disclosing what information is collected and the purpose for all information collected
- Constructing contact forms and other data collection points to collect only the information that is essential and no more
