A new study from Compendium gives business communicators some great guidelines for social sharing.
If you are sharing B2B:
- Use 16-25 words for LinkedIn posts
- Use 11-15 words for tweets
- Using a question mark leads to less clicks (25% for LinkedIn, 39% for Twitter)
- Using an exclamation point leads to less clicks (26% for LinkedIn, 15% for Twitter)
- Using a hashtag is a very good practice that increases clicks: 56% more for LinkedIn, 193% more for Twitter
- Using a number leads to more clicks on Twitter
- Best time to post on Twitter is 10-11 a.m. and noon-2 on Wednesday
- Best time to post on LinkedIn is 9-11 a.m., noon-1 on Sunday
If you are sharing B2C:
- Use 21-25 words for LinkedIn posts
- Use 1-5 words for tweets
- Using a question mark leads to less clicks (45% for LinkedIn, 52% for Twitter)
- Using an exclamation point leads 27% more clicks for LinkedIn, 8% less for Twitter
- Using a hashtag is not helpful, leading to 20% fewer clicks in LinkedIn and 82% fewer on Twitter
- Using a number leads to more clicks on Twitter
- Best time to post on Twitter is 10-11 a.m. and noon-2 on Monday
- Best time to post on LinkedIn is 9-11 a.m., noon-1 on Monday and Wednesday
